1. Favourite cocktail bar
El bar
I don’t really drink, but a place where I like to sit, talk and watch people, is El Bar. It’s on Noordeinde … and I believe they have some good cocktails there as well.

2. Favourite ice cream parlour
BitterKoud
BitterKoud remains my favourite ice cream parlour. In fact, my first café was ín the shop, so it still feels a bit like home. Back then, they made Luciano ice cream, but now they are in the process of a complete metamorphosis. Behind the scenes they are renovating and I am very curious to see what it will be like.

3. Favourite restaurant
Simply Thai
Simply Thai, on Thomsonlaan 112, is my favourite restaurant. I go there at least once a week because I can’t live without Thai Food. The owner, Soy, is a strong woman with a heart of gold. The kai kieuw waan and the kai pad krapow are my go-tos. With prik nam pla, please. You shouldn’t order these if you can’t handle spice though.

4. Favourite hair salon
Kappers aan zee
The hairdresser I’ve always gone to is Kappers aan Zee on Keizerstraat. The owner, Remy, has done some funky hairstyles on me… Shaved the side of my head, dyed it purple, and has fixed my self-cut fringe multiple times. They cut and dye very well and always with character. And everyone who works there is super kind and talkative.

5. Guilty pleasure
Christmas

My guilty pleasure is counting down the days until winter. I love walking through the streets in the crisp air, wrapped up in warm clothes, with Christmas music playing and all the beautiful lights. My favourite spots are Fred and the Fahrenheitstraat. I just can’t wait for that feeling, maybe because I grew up with Swedish Christmas, which really is the best.
