1. Favourite restaurant

Restaurant Suus

Suus in the historic Plesman building carries a beautiful legacy of bringing people together and does so with style. With high ceilings, large windows and warm contemporary design, it creates the perfect setting for good food and even better conversations. Book one of the big round tables if you can and don’t miss the pumpkin tortellini.

2. Favourite wine spot

Bar Bowie

Bar Bowie

Even though I rarely drink alcohol, Bar Bowie is one of those places I love returning to whether for a good coffee during the day or a glass of L’Arjolle Zéro (alcohol-free!) in the evening. With its sunny terrace, charming interior and lively atmosphere, it’s a great place to catch up with friends or simply soak in the buzz of the city.

3. Favourite baker

Bartine & Brood van Bro

Bartine

My father was a baker and pastry chef, so I always had a soft spot for good bread and high standards. Two places in The Hague always make me happy: Bartine and Brood van Bro, both known for their beautifully crusty sourdough breads and genuine care in every loaf. They are all about honest ingredients, full of beautiful flavours and simply a joy to take home. I never leave Bartine without grabbing one of their amazing cardamom buns.

4. Favourite beauty salon

Babassu

For years, I am trusting Babassu in the city center of The Hague for facials. My favourite specialist is Corine. She always knows exactly what my skin needs and makes me feel truly cared for. I leave each time with plumped, nourished and glowing skin. The whole team is warm and professional, creating a relaxing atmosphere where you feel completely at ease. I also keep coming back for their “Glowy Screen SPF 50+” sunscreen from Brand Darling, a must-have for daily protection and care, beyond just the treatments.

5. Guilty pleasure

Sweet Sea Desserts

Sweet Sea Desserts

I definitely have a thing for chocolate. Whether to reward or treat myself, I can’t stop coming back to the incredible creations of Joshua Edwards from Sweet Sea Desserts. I recently discovered him at a market at Lange Voorhout, and everything I’ve tried so far is pure magic, creative, thoughtful and full of unexpected, delicious combinations. My favourite? The Banoffee bonbon with salted banana caramel & macadamia. Absolutely divine! I couldn’t agree more with his own words: “Everyone deserves to experience great desserts and even better chocolates.” Joshua sells at various markets across the city, as well as shipping throughout Europe. You can also pick up your order at De Gheijnstraat.
