5 reasons why BLOOM Rooms is a lovely place to work
With our publishing house, Media Fresca, we move to a different office in The Hague every three months. This way, we get to know the city better and better, even from our workplace. Over the past few months, we’ve been based at BLOOM Rooms at Koninginnegracht 28. But what actually makes this place such a lovely place to work? Here are five reasons why you should pop in.
An office with character
An office doesn’t have to be big to be a pleasant place to work. At BLOOM Rooms, we had our own space with tall windows, classic ceiling decorations and a balcony. Daylight streamed in abundantly, and on sunny days it was tempting to close my laptop for a moment and have a coffee outside.
As well as office spaces, there are also areas for consultations, treatments or events involving larger groups. For example, the Garden Room was the perfect venue for our networking event, ‘Sip & Socialise’, which we organised in collaboration with BLOOM Rooms.

Everything within walking distance
BLOOM Rooms is situated close to The Hague Central Station, and the tram stops right outside the door. Yet the surroundings feel surprisingly green. There’s a small park behind the building, and you can also enjoy a lovely walk in the Benoordenhout neighbourhood. You don’t have to go far for coffee or lunch either. Through the back entrance, you can walk straight to Frederikstraat and Denneweg. We used to pop in regularly for a coffee at Barista Cafe, Azizam Café or Dolce Freddo. Dikke Mik and Toko Frederik are good places to go for lunch.

A view to get lost in
Just gazing out of the window to gather your thoughts: at BLOOM Rooms, that’s a treat in itself. With those tall trees, it felt as though we were in the woods rather than in the city. And as summer gave way to autumn, the leaves changed colour and the occasional shower passed by. So our view kept changing in character.

The garden as a favourite spot
Are you organising a drinks party? Just open the doors to the garden downstairs and you’ll find yourself in your very own urban oasis. As it’s not situated on a busy road, it’s also a lovely spot to clear your head for a while or to have lunch.

A warm welcome
At BLOOM Rooms, owner Marieke Hoekstra and floor manager Ben van Wichen ensure a personal welcome. There’s always time for a chat, and you can tell that the people in the building know one another. A regular highlight was the arrival of Peter’s Plør coffee cart. Popping out for a cappuccino, bumping into colleagues and catching up: these are the little breaks that brighten up the working day.
We also saw that sense of connection during Sip & Socialise. People from Marieke’s network lent a hand, and other users of the premises joined in. It was a great opportunity to introduce our own network to BLOOM Rooms as well.
