Gems of the Denneweg and Frederikstraat

Kingstreet Magazine has now been working from Staybridge Suites The Hague for over a month. From there, we walk straight to the Denneweg and Frederikstraat. For lunch or wine, but just as much for shopping. These are our favourite addresses.

Gems of the Denneweg and Frederikstraat

Miccy's

Statement jewellery

On Denneweg lies a pearl that regularly pops up on familiar ears. Miccy's makes jewellery from Swarovski crystal, freshwater pearls and gold-plated silver, among other things. Designed by Michelle de Hoogh and worn by Queen Máxima.

My Lima Lima

Everyone wants a pre-loved item from My Lima Lima

High heels, designer jackets and other pre-loved items. At My Lima Lima luxury garments get a second life and the proceeds go to charities. The shop is set up as a quiet place to look around and try on. Don't expect a quick sale here, but attention, conversations and clothes with a story.

Café Voorhout

You'll stick around anyway

At Café Voorhout, you don't need to organise anything to get cosy. Bitterballen on the table, cava in the glass and the conversations settle themselves. For over thirty years, this brown pub has been a fixture on the Denneweg, where people catch up, sing along and sometimes pause for a moment.

G.B. Spadafora

Italian jewellery that tells a story

The jewellery at G.B. Spadafora is at times almost sculptural. Owner Monica Spadafora will always treat you to an espresso while sharing stories about her family’s designs inspired by the Calabrian region. What stood out to us was the craftsmanship with soul – the kind of pieces you wear as a statement or pass down as heirlooms. Take your time to explore the collection in this charming little boutique.

The Golden Barrel

Bring on that wine

We love wine. And at The Golden Barrel it’s easy to find a bottle that suits you even if you’re not a connoisseur. We asked co-owner Sarah Visser about her favourite. “I enjoy a slightly older Riesling. We work with Heymann-Löwenstein from the Mosel. They let the grapes ripen longer – golden in the glass super aromatic with notes ranging from white peach to roasted coffee. A wine full of intrigue.”

Harvest

Embracing what nature has to offer

Another restaurant by Van der Kleijn and awarded a Bib Gourmand. At Oogst you choose from a menu that flows with the seasons. We went for the scallops with Pata Negra and maple syrup and the Corvina fillet with bouillabaisse and saffron potatoes. The staff gave us great explanations for each dish along with perfectly matched wines.

After HOF Fashion Stephanie and her husband Laurens wanted to offer something special for interior enthusiasts as well. We’re really keen to have the Globo Table Lamp by Jonathan Adler on our desk. Just need to save up a little longer…
