Lovely dishes to share with a French touch, and such a cosy atmosphere. In summer it’s great to sit and eat on the patio, informal and relaxed. The service is excellent, with wine choices that always surprise.

2. Best ice cream parlour

Hop & Stork 

Because of the artisanal ice cream and the original flavours. My favourite is a cone with one scoop of Apple Elderflower and one of Salted Caramel. Such a refreshing yet punchy combination. I’m also impressed by the chocolate artworks they create. Definitely worth a visit. Did you know they also sell the current hit, Dubai Chocolate with pistachio?

3. Best cake shop

Verhoog's Bakery 

I love tompouce, and the best ones in The Hague are from Verhoog in the Hoytemastraat. The puff pastry is always crisp, the filling not too sweet, delicious cream and, luckily, no frills. Just exactly how a real tompouce should be.

4. Best cocktail bar

Tapisco

The southern vibe at Tapisco is wonderful. And if I’m not sure which cocktail to choose, the restaurant manager is always happy to suggest a surprising one, made right in front of you. A treat to watch – and even better to enjoy at those charming little tables opposite the bar.

5. Best hairdresser

Hype Hairdressers 

The vibe is trendy, contemporary and relaxed, and during the hair wash your head gets a lovely massage. Misha is my favourite cutter, she can do any style. Besides being excellent at cutting, they also have a strong opinion on hair – which I like.
