A<\/span>someone sees you there, and yet bathrooms have to be beautiful. And especially more and more luxurious. Well, just don't walk past 'Passier Bathrooms & Wellness since 1902', a family business halfway down the Denneweg.<\/p>\n

\"I am the fourth generation,\" says creative owner Hans Passier. \"I've been here for five years now. For 114 years we were in the Rivierenbuurt. A renowned plumbing company. We did all the work for schools, municipal works, post offices, the Bijenkorf, the HEMA. I inherited the trading from my grandfather, the technical part from my father.\"<\/p>\n

\"In 1989, he died suddenly; I was 25 at the time and entered the business. I started specialising more in bathrooms, loved design and got my inspiration from trade fairs in Bologne and Milan. When I design a bathroom on the computer, I also know exactly how to build it. I benefit from that every day.\"<\/p>\n

Des Indes hotels<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Passier sits behind his desk, on the wall hangs a work of art from 2002 (the year of the centenary and the year in which the Royal Warrant was awarded) depicting four men's heads. You dream away at the sight of the showers, sinks, tiles and accessories in the shop. The expert works for private individuals, hotels (Des Indes, Savarin), architects and property developers.<\/p>\n

\"People only need to show a few pictures and I know which manufacturers to take. What makes me unique is that I can supply any brand in the world because I have been in that industry for so long. Can't doesn't exist. It is a challenge to then design it myself and have it made.<\/p>\n

Professionals<\/strong><\/h2>\n

People who can't find it on the internet come to me. I can deliver alone or form an entire construction team and relieve the customer by building turnkey. Craftsmen are dying out. I have known the best plumbers, the best plasterers and the best tilers for 30 years.\"<\/p>\n

And: \"I don't think you can buy anything from a computer. I always want people in the shop to feel and see something live, even if I have to have a tile or a tap flown in specially. By the way, anyone can just walk in here, but for a design I prefer an appointment. Then I lock the door.\"<\/p>\n

\"The trends now are the big tile slabs, three by one metre fifty. And I have those in lots of colours. And prints of real material, onyx or marble, on a ceramic tile. Coloured taps are also trendy: bronze, copper, brushed gold. I also have a lot of special accessories here. People come for a bathrobe, for instance. But then I have the most beautiful bathrobe on sale in the world. I always pick the most beautiful items, mostly from Italy.\"<\/p>\n

Passier<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Passier reveals nothing about golden baths, wealthy clients or any royal jobs. That's private, just like a bathroom. He does confess that he only recently got himself a bath instead of just a shower. \"That's really enjoyable,\" he says.<\/p>\n
