At least with us, the customary 5.95 Rioja seems to be a thing of the past and its place has been taken by quality wines from other Spanish regions, which cost three or four times as much. La Mancha, for example, but even more impressively, the eminent wines of HABLA from Extremadura. The Carraro family is now represented by the intelligent Vittorio, son of the house. Besides being a gifted winemaker, he is also a hygiene freak. This is also evident in his organic wines; splash and splash clean they are. Soft, accessible, dry and oh so clean. Keeping the skins in contact with the grape juice for only a very short time creates this bright, sparkling pink wine.
