8 x beautiful interior design shops in The Hague
Sometimes you just need a new lamp, sometimes you end up with a completely new interior. These are eight great interior design shops we love to pop into ourselves.
1. Frederik Premier
Frederik Premier is one of those places where an interior rarely stops at just curtains. What starts with a colour recommendation or a new fabric often grows into something much bigger. Owners Ronald and Charlotte Nijssen themselves say that they have always said ‘yes’ to everything, and this is reflected in their work.
Their signature is in stacking texture, colour and layers. From sleek Scandinavian to pronounced and warm, each project feels its own without being contrived. The showroom in Javastraat is where it all comes together.
They look, listen and translate that into something that is right for the place and the people who live there. “We listen carefully and never copy-paste,” says Charlotte Nijssen.

2. Studio Limonada
Fabrics from France, lamp bases from China, cushions with a hint of Morocco. And all in a bright orange corner building on Franklinstraat.
Behind Studio Limonada is Ysabel Keuls, who had to rediscover her creativity after a violent accident. What started as recovery grew into a place with a signature all its own.
Everything you see, from lampshades to poufs and cushions, is handmade in the atelier at the back of the shop. Mix & match your own combination or be surprised by what's already there.

3. Atelier Cocotier
Atelier Cocotier feels like a little escape in the middle of the city. On Piet Heinstraat, Lindsey van Welzen runs her shop, where there really is something to see everywhere.
From tableware to accessories, everything is handpicked by her. Well-known brands such as HK Living and Vondels are interspersed with lesser-known labels such as Olaf Ceramics, with handmade tableware from Portugal.
The wall full of candles immediately catches the eye. Here you put together your own ‘candle box’ with candles in all colours from the Kaarsenmakerij from The Hague, a social workplace where candles are made by hand.

4. Dias Fireplaces and Fireplaces
At Dias Fireplaces and Fireplaces it often starts with a simple idea, a fireplace, and ends with an eye-catcher that you prefer to watch all evening. In the showroom at Laan van Meerdervoort, where several fireplaces burn simultaneously, you see immediately what fire does to interiors.
Owner Paula Dias guides customers from start to installation and looks beyond style. “You also don't want a stove with so much power that you have to open the windows while stoking,” Dias says.
Whether it's a classic fireplace or something sleeker, here it is always tailored to the space and the people who live there. Sometimes with a personal detail, such as initials or a family crest in the natural stone.

5. Praalder
On Theresiastraat sits Praalder Audio/Video and Witgoed Center, a name that has lasted for generations. Brothers Onno and Stephan Praalder form the third generation and combine image, sound and kitchen appliances under one roof.
A new oven, refrigerator or hob often seems like a snap order, until it turns out that a size just differs or a connection is not as expected. That is precisely where their strength lies. First see how something fits together
sit, then advise. “To deliver a good product, you actually have to look at someone's home first,” says Onno Praalder.

📍Theresiastraat 151 to 161
6. Byron & Jones
Here at Byron & Jones, an interior does not start with furniture, but with feeling and balance. “We always look for surprise as well as recognition, a beautiful game,” says owner Lars Temmink.
For more than 20 years, they have been working from their showroom on Noordeinde to create interiors that are not only beautiful, but also keep working. Materials, colours and shapes are carefully matched.
Using brands like FLOS, Poliform and Chivasso as a base, a whole is created that looks calm but never boring.

7. Bas Vellekoop
Bas Vellekoop's work often starts with a simple idea: how do you make something that is right, without making it complicated?
“Timeless, minimalist and sustainable. That's where my designs fit well,” Vellekoop said.
From his studio in The Hague, he designs furniture that is practical but always retains something playful. Tables that are easy to slide into, shapes that remain quiet but linger.

8. Studio van ’t Wout
At Studio van 't Wout you don't step into just any shop. Behind the studio are Arie and Saskia Alderliesten, partners in work and life, who approach their projects from conversations, feelings and a keen eye for detail. “Our projects often lead to beautiful friendships,” says Saskia Alderliesten.
In early April, the studio will open a new showroom on Kneuterdijk, where everything comes together: their collection, their way of working and the LEMA flagship store next door. Another step for a name that has been growing with generations.
